Gary Axelson was called in from the field to build a new outhouse, because someone had burnt the old one down. He was a talented carpenter.  When the job was completed, Top sent him back to the field. Within a week he was called back in to replace another burned shit house. Top decided he needed him more in Quang Tri than in the field so he made a truck driver out of him. Gary was a great guy and could scrounge anything. I never was in the field with him, but enjoyed his company when I came in.

I'm sorry to read of Gary's passing. He was a real character. We got to the troop about the same time, and I always enjoyed his company. Funny guy. Jim C.
